Food Manufacturing & Citrus Processing
Citrus processing and food manufacturing involves high solids content with a high BOD/COD content as by-products to the manufacturing process. Therefore, clarifiers must be regularly and properly maintained. If requested, your clarifier cleaning will be scheduled by our staff, as needed, to alleviate the stress of clarifier maintenance. Clarifier Maintenance Clarifiers are required to be pumped by a registered hauler a minimum of twice per year, but may need to be serviced more frequently depending on the waste load. Therefore, clarifiers should be inspected by facility owners/operators at least once per quarter to ensure proper maintenance. A copy of the manifest should be kept on-site and available for review upon inspection.Clarifiers are subject to specific pollutant discharge limits specified in the local municipal code. Discharging wastewater with an oil or grease concentration greater than the allowable limit is prohibited. Also, there shall be no visible oil or grease present in wastewater discharged into the sewer system. Water Resources Protection staff will perform periodic inspections and sampling to ensure compliance of these limits. Failure to comply with these limits will subject the facility to pay an administrative fine and/or enforcement actions.
